Saanich Council Candidate, Jordan Weaver

Are you familiar with the lingering issues created by the People, Pets and Parks Strategy in Saanich?

Yes.

2. Has the People, Pets, and Parks (PPP) initiative been effective so far? Why or why not?

I don’t believe so, as it appears that many stakeholders feel unheard.

3. What aspects of the PPP, if any, do you think need to change?

I would have to meet with all stakeholders and discuss issues point by point in order to give a comprehensive answer, but I am committed to doing so.

4. How do you see Saanich supporting education programs related to Park, beach and trail etiquette?

I think that this is an excellent idea and would welcome community consultation on this issue.

5. Is the $1.7M taxpayer funding allocated to the PPP the best use of those funds for Saanich? Why or why not?

I’m not sure in detail how the funding was allocated, so I can’t comment, but if funds have been spent disproportionately on consultancy fees, I would be against that. 6. Are you familiar with the Peg and Post fencing added to PKOLS this year?

a. Do you support spending a further $270,000 to fully enclose the 1.7 km off-leash trail at PKOLS? Why or why not? ‍ ‍

I would need more information about this initiative in order to comment.

7. In seeking to be elected what do you stand for that you think would be important for our members to know about?

Following our very helpful meeting, my overall impression is that your group feels unheard. I am very committed to listening to all voices in Saanich, and that includes yours. I hope that the dialogue we have begun can develop fruitfully if I am elected as a member of council. Please know that I am here to address your concerns.
